KAD Win’s HIA Kitchen Design

Congratulations to Kate Anderson Design for winning the HIA Kitchen Design of the Year 2022 for the Sunshine Coast and Wide Bay region. Project Vista was a luxury modern kitchen renovation design dream, based on the Sunshine Coast for KAD.

Kate Anderson Design was engaged by the clients to transform their tied and dysfunctional kitchen into a space where the kitchen became a luxurious, bright & a modern coastal entertainers’ kitchen.

KAD Designed this project with innovative materials and finishes featuring the back lit Mario Romano Walls from Austaron Surfaces along with the Blum space step built into the kicks. The intricacy of the design detail including the lighting selections and placement, the hidden veneer pantry and wet bar/ appliance station was executed by Kate in her design and the KAD trade referral teams including plumbing, electrical and joinery installation. Adding another successful award-winning project for Kitchen Renovation by Kate Anderson Design for 2022.

KAD is truly becoming the design influencer on the Sunshine Coast for Kitchen cabinetry & joinery design and renovation.

Porta’s Feature Meisner On The Park

As Sunshine Coast Kitchen and Design Specialists, KAD were thrilled to recently have one of our kitchens feature with Porta – Australia’s leading suppliers of decorative timber products.

Thank you for the opportunity Porta.

The breath-taking ‘Meisner on the Park’ is an award-winning kitchen from Kate Anderson Design (KAD). The kitchen is also the designer’s personal project. “This is my dream kitchen, and the planning and design stage took me over six months,” explains Kate. “I have three beautiful boys and a husband, so I needed a robust but elegant coastal kitchen that suited the open plan living.”

As a stand-alone piece of art, the kitchen features a wall of beautiful Porta Tasmanian Oak Dressed All Round battens. “The use of Porta Tasmanian Oak laid in vertical form gave the extra height the space needed to feel bigger than the original kitchen we ripped out, as well as the additional luxury of hidden cabinetry behind the entire wall of timber,” says Kate.

The hidden cabinetry behind the wall of Porta timber is Kate’s favourite element of the project. “Although this was a time-consuming task, it was well worth the money, time and effort,” says Kate. “The battens were individually hand sanded back, and then finished with a Danish oil to give a natural, raw finish.”

STAYING AHEAD OF THE TRENDS

When designing a kitchen it is so important to consider the style – sometimes being on trend dates far sooner than we would prefer, so my advice is to try to be timeless. Neutral, beach and earthy tones are key elements to consider with a pop of colour. The texture of your surfaces are also paramount to any design success, it’s broad appeal if considering selling and the longevity of that design are all important factors.
